About

Corey Thatcher

Outside of the clinic, Corey is someone who genuinely enjoys the simple things that make life feel full. He loves board games, running, and wandering into another world with a good book. You’ll often find him spending time with his cats, walking dogs, or exploring new places just for the fun of it. Creativity is a big part of who he is — he enjoys drawing and experimenting with different styles and mediums, and is always curious about learning something new.

While he takes his work seriously, Corey believes it’s just as important not to take life too seriously. He values humour, lightness, and genuine connection, and enjoys bringing a sense of ease into everyday life. He also enjoys the challenge of obstacle course races and, perhaps most importantly, has a deep appreciation for coffee

How did I find Osteopathy?

Corey has always been passionate about movement and physical activity. During his post-secondary studies, he explored the relationship between movement and its impact on an individual’s quality of life. After experiencing a severe injury himself, the long road of post-surgical recovery led him to discover the profound healing potential of osteopathic manual therapy. This experience deepened his curiosity about how the body functions as a unified whole and how seemingly unrelated areas of the body can be deeply interconnected.

Guided by a strong appreciation for human anatomy, movement, and whole-person wellness, Corey is committed to continually expanding his knowledge and refining his approach to care. He values growth, lifelong learning, and thoughtful practice in order to better support each individual’s health journey.

Education

Member of Practice of Osteopathic Manual Therapy (M.OMSc)

  • The Member of Practice of Osteopathic Manual Therapy (M.OMSc) diploma was earned through the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy. This rigorous four-year program provided a comprehensive education grounded in the classical principles of osteopathy and developed a strong foundation in whole-body, patient-centred care. The program included over 1,500 hours of supervised, in-person clinical training, alongside extensive study in advanced anatomy, Osteopathic physiology, Osteopathic theory, the history of osteopathy. Additionally, the exploration of early literature that helped shape the foundations of the profession was analyzed. The curriculum is rooted in Classical Stillian principles, and an understanding of the geometrical relationships of anatomy and forces within the body through collective mechanics.

Bachelor of Health and Physical Education — Physical Literacy

  • Within the Health and Physical Education department at Mount Royal University; physical literacy focuses on developing a comprehensive approach to health and wellness. Its aim is to build an individual’s knowledge, competence, and confidence to support lifelong movement. Physical literacy extends beyond sport and fitness, by emphasizing motivation, confidence, physical competence, and an understanding of the importance of movement. Through education and coaching, individuals are empowered with safe, practical knowledge to take responsibility for their engagement in physical activity. This foundation supports overall well-being across all domains of health.
